Abstract
The concept of emotional intelligence was examined in relation to the latitude permitted for emotional expressiveness and adaptation to occupational culture in three groups of helping professionals: police ocers, child care workers, and educators in mental health care. A total of 167 individuals were administered the Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQ-i). There were no dierences in the primary scales measuring various aspects of emotional intelligence between the two groups of care workers. There were dierences between a combined care worker grouping and the police ocers with the latter seeming more emotionally adaptable than the former. Whilst there were some overall gender dierences, there were no gender by occupation interactions. There were also dierences in terms of three higher order factors of the EQ-i with police ocers achieving higher scores on positive aect and emotional stability than the care workers. Results are discussed in the light of dierences in occupational cultures and methodological considerations. 7 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved
چکیده
مفهوم هوش هیجانی در رابطه با قلمرو مجاز بیان عاطفی و انطباق با فرهنگ شغلی در سه گروه از متخصصان مددرسان: ماموران پلیس، پرستار کودک و مربیان مراقبت از سلامت روان مورد بررسی قرار گرفت. در مجموع 167 فرد پرسشنامه بهره یا هوش هیجانی (EQ-i) را انجام دادند. هیچ تفاوتی در مقیاس‌های اولیــه اندازه گیری جنبه‌های مختلف هوش هیجانی در دو گروه از کارکنان مراقبت وجود ندارد. تفاوت‌هایی بین یک گروه کارگر مراقبت ترکیبی و افسران پلیس با دومی که از نظر عاطفی سازگارتر از اولی است وجود دارد. در حالی که برخی از تفاوت‌های کلی جنسیتی وجود داشت، هیچ تعامل شغل جنسیتی وجود نداشت. همچنین تفاوت‌هایی بر حسب سه عامل با درجات بالاتر EQ-i با افسران پلیس در دستیابی به نمرات بالاتر در زمینه عواطف مثبت و ثبات عاطفی کارکنان مراقبت وجود داشت. نتایج در پرتو تفاوت‌های موجود در فرهنگ شغلی و ملاحظات روش شناختی مورد بحث قرار گرفتند.
